First of all, Blessed Christmas to all!! I know many of you are still in the Christmas holiday mood. You are on holidays either spending time with your loved ones or friends. This is a great time to catch up with them and have some quality bonding time. I believe you are enjoying and cherishing every moment. If you are traveling, I speak God’s protection over you and your family.
The year 2016 has really been a defining year for me. So many challenges and difficult times but God’s grace is sufficient for me. His words are real and true – He will never leave you nor forsake you. That is His promise to me. I have to admit it has been a year of trials and failures. I am not afraid of failing. The fact that I tried and failed was a good testament that I succeeded in taking a step of action. It is better than not trying and not doing a single thing. As I reflect upon this year, I am reminded that God’s peace, love and joy have kept me floating in the midst of the storm. He is with me throughout the storm even though I thought I was drowning. Have you felt that way? God never promised us a life without troubles or problems. In fact, Jesus warned us that troubles and problems will come out way. That is why we need to know who we are in Christ when we are in those difficult situations or the enemy will overcome us. Stay strong and know that God is in control of our lives even though we may not feel it. Do not be led by your emotions such as fear but be led by the Holy Spirit and by the word of God. If God says He will deliver you out of all your troubles, trust and believe He will do what He said He will do. God’s words never fail.
Here are 3 Bible verses for 2017 I would like to leave with you as the year ends and let them guide you into the new year.
I try to remember this verse whenever I come to the cross road and have to make a decision. My prayer has always been ‘God, if your presence does not go with me, then I will not move. Let your peace guards my heart in every decision I make.’ For the coming new year, let God’s word guide you and help you walk in His will and purpose for your life.
I remember having doubt God on a lot of things even though I never said it. But our God who is a God who knows everything, He knew. I said in my heart ‘I do not believe all these healing miracles that are happening in this church’. Strangely one day while in church, I suddenly had a horrible headache which I never experienced before. It came suddenly and it was very painful. I asked my friend Susan to pray for me as I did not know what else to do. She prayed for me and after that short prayer, the pain left immediately. I was totally grateful for God’s healing that day and I never doubt His power to heal from that day onwards. This verse is a reminder that our God is a miracle working God. There is power in His mighty name! He is a God of Possible!
We know that God is limitless but as human beings, we are so limited in our capacity to grasp His infinite power. I personally feel I am too small to even imagine or think of how big and great my God is. But when I surrender to Him and ran to Him, this big God began to work in me. I have ran away from Him and backslided. For a few years, I had spent my Christmas in pubs drinking and partying with my friends. I felt empty and I knew I was not walking right with God but I did not know how to stop. Until one early Christmas morning, I left the pub with my friend wasted and high on alcohol. I was going to grab a cab but I did not know I had walked onto the middle of the road. I heard the brakes of a van screeching to stop. I was so close to being hit! At that very moment, I woke up. The Holy Spirit convicted me and I knew if I had died I would be so ashamed to face God. I was grateful to God for saving me and giving me a second chance. I ran back to God and to church immediately! By His grace and mercy, I confessed my sins and He embraced me with His love again. If you think you can find comfort and peace in alcohol and drugs, you are so wrong. That is the devil’s lie to us because He does not want us to go to God. Many people have wasted years living under the bondage of alcohol and drugs. Many have died. God desires that we live and be free to experience His love, joy and peace. God loves you. Run to God and allow Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine to work in our lives!!
I hope these 3 Bible verses for 2017 will stay with you and guide you through the year.
Have a blessed 2017!
