Today is Good Friday and as I reflect on this day, I realised there are so many things that God has done for me. This verse itself “by his wounds you have been healed” speaks so much of the goodness of God. Why do I say so?
Back when I was just a kid, I did not know God yet. I knew there was a God but I did not have a personal relationship with Him. I am grateful that I was introduced to Jesus when I was 5 or 6 years old by my eldest sister. She brought me to church during Easter and Christmas. I remembered those days as happy and joyful celebrations – of Easter eggs and candy canes. When I started school and since it was a missionary school, I encountered Jesus again. I attended Scripture Union and the teachers would talk about Jesus. There was no resistant to Jesus eventhough my parents are Buddhists. I just love Jesus. I love what I hear and read of Him. I had childlike faith. I remembered reading a Christian tract over and over again as I could not understand this part. I even underlined it!!!
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
I could not understand it but I longed for an answer. It was not until I attended Sunday School that I knew how easy it was to be born again. Jesus was referring to a spiritual birth (of course it was!). How? It is as simple as asking Jesus to come into my life (open your mouth and ask Him). He is the spirit of God. Right there ad then everything became clear to me. I said the prayer to ask Jesus into my life and ever since that day, the spirit of God lives within me:) I have a new life! Hallelujah! That was the happiest day of my life!
If you think you have to figure everything out with your human brain, then you will never figure it out. This is an amazing God who truly does the most amazing things that our human minds can never comprehend. Sometimes it is so simple that our human brains reject it. It is an irony! God is not a complicated or confused God. He is a limitless God with endless possibilities. With God, all things are possible!
Today, if you are seeking God and you think you need to have a check list of to-do before you come to Him, well surprise – there is NONE! Just come as you are. God’s love is unconditional. He loves us so much that He sent Jesus, his only Son to die on the cross for our sins. Pause. Think about it? Who would send their only son to die? And to die for sinners? No way! But God did just that! He loves us so much that He sacrificed His son, Jesus to save us from hell! God wants us to spend eternity in heaven with Him but Satan does not want that. Satan continues to deceive and lie to us. The devil and his demons aim to kill, steal and destroy us. He makes us believe that sin is nothing and there is nothing wrong with sin! The Bibles says we have been separated from God because of sin. God is holy and He cannot stand sin. He loves sinners but He hates the sin we commit! But when we receive Jesus into your life, our sins are forgiven and wiped away by His blood. Hence we can now communicate with God and have a relationship with Him. We have been redeemed and set free by the blood of Jesus shed on the cross.
Romans 10:9 (NIV) If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
If you wish to accept Jesus into your life, say this prayer out and mean it with all your heart:
I know I’m a sinner. My sins have separated me from you. Please forgive me! I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for my sins.
Please wash me clean from all sin, shame, and guilt. I invite you into my life Jesus, to be my Lord and Savior today. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen!
God bless you & Blessed Good Friday! The song below is for you. God loves you:)
